Arkansas State Hires Former NBA Player Anthony Goods as Assistant Coach
Arkansas State men’s basketball head coach Ryan Pannone has announced the addition of Anthony Goods to his 2025-26 coaching staff. Goods, a former NBA Draft Scouting Consultant for the Detroit Pistons and professional basketball player, joins the Red Wolves as an assistant coach.
Goods brings a diverse and accomplished background to Jonesboro, having spent four years in the NBA system and 11 seasons playing professionally in leagues around the world. He also co-founded Swish Cultures in 2017, serving as Chief Marketing Officer while building the platform into a leading multimedia brand covering the NBA, WNBA, and international basketball.
“Anthony Goods comes to us from the Detroit Pistons,” Pannone said. “He spent four years in the NBA, was a great player at Stanford, and played 11 years professionally in different countries. He’s one of the most talented people you’ll come across. We’re going to be able to feel his energy, his enthusiasm, his talent, and his mind for the game.”
Pannone emphasized Goods’ value as someone who understands the path from collegiate athlete to professional success, both on and off the court.
“He’s going to be a great influence on our players and our staff,” Pannone said. “He’s lived in their shoes, knows what it takes to succeed academically and athletically, and has firsthand knowledge of what NBA teams are looking for.”
Goods starred at Stanford from 2005 to 2009, earning two All-Pac-10 Honorable Mentions. He averaged 10.9 points per game over his career, shooting 36.4% from three-point range. As a senior, he led the Cardinal with 16.2 points per game and hit a team-high 71 three-pointers. He graduated with a degree in communications.
After college, Goods played in the NBA D-League for the Bakersfield Jam, Dakota Wizards, and Fort Wayne Mad Ants before launching an international career. He suited up for teams in France, Israel, Italy, Poland, Ukraine, and Venezuela, officially retiring in 2019.
Now stepping into a coaching role, Goods is expected to bring elite basketball insight, global experience, and a strong player development focus to the Red Wolves program.
“He’s going to give our guys exactly what they need to know to make it to the next level,” Pannone said. “We’re incredibly fortunate to have him on board.”
