Seven Red Wolves Named to Phil Steele’s 2025 Preseason All-Sun Belt Teams
With the 2025 college football season on the horizon, Arkansas State is gaining preseason recognition as seven Red Wolves were named to Phil Steele’s Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference (SBC) teams.
1st Team Honors
Corey Rucker (WR) – The veteran wide receiver earns a spot on the top squad after a standout performance last season. Known for his explosive plays and reliable hands, Rucker is expected to be one of the Sun Belt’s premier pass-catchers in 2025.
Clune Van Andel (K) – Van Andel’s consistency and clutch kicking have placed him among the league’s elite special teams players, securing him a First Team nod.
2nd Team Honors
Bryan Whitehead (DE) – A disruptive force on the defensive line, Whitehead's ability to pressure the quarterback and defend the run makes him one of the conference’s top defensive ends.
Avante Dickerson (CB) – The speedy and athletic cornerback locked down receivers all season long, earning a well-deserved spot on the Second Team.
3rd Team Honor
Ja’Quez Cross (RB) – A dynamic running back with speed and versatility, Cross provided a spark to the Red Wolves’ offense and is poised for an even bigger role this fall.
4th Team Honors
Jaylen Raynor (QB) – A rising star at quarterback, Raynor flashed potential in 2024 and enters the new season as a breakout candidate under center.
Javante Mackey (LB) – Mackey’s tenacity and field awareness landed him Fourth Team recognition after a strong showing at linebacker.
These preseason accolades from Phil Steele reinforce optimism surrounding Arkansas State’s 2025 campaign as Head Coach Butch Jones and staff look to elevate the Red Wolves back to the top tier of the Sun Belt Conference.
